Faculty of Occupational Health and SafetyThe Faculty offers studies concerning three principal majors:
The major: Logistics The studies are devoted to formulate specialists dealing with the management of the flow of resources and products between the point of origin to the point of consumption. Logistic operations involve integration of information flow, material handling, production, packaging, inventory, transportation, warehousing, and security. The courses held in logistics departments are very popular in countries of the European Community. It is well-kown that the optimization of logistic operations was one of the principal factors which brought U.S. victory in the second world war. For undergraduate candidates the faculty offers courses for B.Sc. degree realized within 3.5 years study (7 semesters). Faculty graduates may continue their study to receive M.Sc. degree at the Faculty of Natural Environment Conservation and Science. The study may proceed according to the full-time or part-time system. The courses for part-time students are held every two weeks in the form of two-day sessions (Saturday and Sunday). The University mediates to organize the accommodation for the session time. Generally, the study involves the collection of courses concerning the following subjects: legal aspects of logistics, mathematics and statistics, physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, system engineering, logistical infrastructure, logistics of manufacturing, logistics of distribution, logistical management of supply chain, efficiency of transport and distribution logistics processes, risk in transport and forwarding logistics system, standarization and quality management, economics of transport, finances and accounting, etc. The first year (two semesters) is devoted to general subjects. Courses include subjects common for all students. Starting from the second year the students appoint courses for one or more of the following ‘specialities’, i.e. specialized general subjects: i. supply & production logistics, ii. transport & distribution logistics. The lists of specialities mentioned above is not fixed. Extra specialities may be formulated basing on preferencs of groups of students. Faculty graduates may continue their study to receive M.Sc. degree at the Faculty of Natural Environment Conservation and Science.
