Accommodation and welfare supportOn request, the long-term stay in university residences may be organized for domestic and foreign students. Many full-time students prefer such a form of accommodation taking into account it is a good way to make friends, and to be embedded in the student life. The University of Environmental Sciences has for its disposal student hostels located not far from the main university campus. Moreover, there are hostels located in the vicinity of Radom. One of them is situated in Jedlnia Letnisko, a tourist village surrounded by pine forest. The student hostel is located in the forest-like area, about 400 m from the lake. For students possessing `higher' financial support the accommodation in flats may be organized. Such an option is most suitable for couples or families with children. Generally, students are required then to sign a 10-months lease before taking up residence. International candidates are asked to inform the University administration in advance that they are interested in accommodation in a student hostel or university flat. Some students prefer to seek private rather than university owned accommodation. It refers mainly to domestic students. For international students the procedure to look for private accommodation constitutes a problem taking into account it requires to be fluent in Polish, and to know Polish legal regulations concerning flat leasing and civil law. The University of Environmental Sciences does provide a health service for all matriculated students. The health service is free for domestic students, students from European Community countries, and for students from overseas countries for which there exist international agreements about free medical care in Poland. Although the University of Environmental Sciences is not a religious oriented institution the University Chaplaincy is well organized. The University Chaplaincy is a resource for persons of faith communities and those of none. Poland is the Catholic country, and the Catholic priest, well educated in theology and moral problems is available at least once a week. Moreover, students and members of the university staff are welcome to participate in meetings and discussions concerning theological, religious, and moral problems. |
